Yoga Nidra at NorthPoint Chiropractic

Rest and Restore Your Consciousness at NorthPoint Chiropractic

Yoga Nidra is a deeply restorative mediation practice that can have profound effects on the psyche and body. This form of meditation is practiced lying supine on the floor and oftentimes has a longer engagement duration than a traditional upright posture practice.
Longer Yoga Nidra practices can be over an hour in length! Our practice will be within the time container of our one-hour gathering.

Why practice Yoga Nidra in a reclined posture?

Due to the nature of lying reclined on your back, in corpse pose, the body is set up in such a posture that is akin to that of when we fall asleep. The intention is not to fall asleep but rather to stay aware with a soft and gentle focus. As the practice unfolds, the body lingers on the edge of complete surrender and letting go (much as in the same way, to totally fall asleep, the body has to completely relax and let go).

This is the magical space of this practice!

Yoga Nidra invites the practitioner into a liminal space of neither being awake or asleep, neither alert nor dreaming, but rather the hover-point between the two.

As a result, the practice of Yoga Nidra invites the practitioner to bridge their awareness of these seemingly polarized ends of consciousness.

Thus, the practitioner gets to strengthen their own awareness of the continuous nature of their beingness.

“Dr. Alandi’s guided Yoga Nidra meditation opened my eyes to deeper functionings of consciousness and the ties between the yin and yang of the resting and waking states. What to Bring for Yoga Nidra at NorthPoint Chiropractic

For all Yoga Nidra Experiences held at NorthPoint Chiropractic, please make sure to bring something to place underneath you (a yoga mat, maybe an extra blanket as a layer) so that you can remain on your back comfortably on the floor. You may like to consider bringing something to place underneath your head for extra comfort and ease. Likewise, you may want to consider bringing a cushion to place as a bolster underneath the backs of your legs.
